Terms & Conditions
The terms that apply when you book mobile automotive services with us.
Last updated 11 August 2026
These terms apply when you book or receive mobile automotive services from Pitstop Brake & Auto Inc., trading as PitStop Mobile Mechanics. By booking a visit you agree to them.
Who you are contracting with
Pitstop Brake & Auto Inc., a California corporation, of 1990 N California Blvd 8th Floor, Walnut Creek, CA 94596. Phone (866) 366-2696, email info@pitstopbrakeandauto.com.
What we do
We carry out automotive diagnosis, repair and maintenance at a location of your choosing — typically a home driveway, a workplace car park, or a roadside location where it is safe to work. We do not operate a workshop that customers visit.
Estimates and authorisation
We give you an estimate before we begin work, and we do not start until you have approved it. If we find additional work is needed once we are underway, we will stop, explain what we have found, and get your approval before continuing. You will never be charged for work you did not authorise.
An estimate given before we have seen the vehicle is indicative only. The figure that matters is the one we give you on site, once the fault has been identified.
Your rights under California law
Automotive repair in California is regulated by the Bureau of Automotive Repair. Among other things, you are entitled to a written estimate before work begins, to authorise any additional work, and to request the return of replaced parts. Nothing in these terms limits any right you have under the Automotive Repair Act or other California consumer law.
Access and working conditions
So that we can work safely, you agree to provide reasonably level ground and enough space to work beside the vehicle. We cannot work on a steep incline, in an unsafe location, or on a live freeway shoulder. Where a location turns out to be unsuitable, we will tell you and, where possible, suggest an alternative nearby.
Where the vehicle is at a workplace, apartment complex or other property you do not own, it is your responsibility to confirm that the owner or manager permits repair work on the premises.
Work we cannot carry out on site
Some jobs require equipment that cannot be brought to you — wheel alignment, tyre mounting and balancing, internal engine and transmission work, and anything needing a vehicle lift. Where a job falls outside what we can do safely and properly at your location, we will tell you rather than begin it, and we will explain what the vehicle needs.
We do not perform California smog inspections, which by law must be carried out at a licensed inspection station.
Parts
We fit parts appropriate to the vehicle and the job. Where a choice exists between original manufacturer and aftermarket parts, we will tell you and let you decide. Any manufacturer warranty on a part is passed to you and is subject to that manufacturer’s terms.
Payment
Payment is due on completion of the work unless we have agreed otherwise in writing. Accepted payment methods will be confirmed when you book.
Warranty
Any warranty covering parts and labour on work we carry out is as stated on your invoice. If something we have repaired fails within that period, contact us and we will inspect it. This warranty does not cover fair wear and tear, damage caused by an unrelated fault, misuse, an accident, or work subsequently carried out by someone else.
Cancellations and access failures
If you need to cancel or rearrange, please give us as much notice as you reasonably can. If we attend at the agreed time and cannot begin work — because the vehicle is not there, is inaccessible, or the location is unsuitable and no alternative is available — we may charge for the visit. Any such charge will be made clear to you before it is applied.
Liability
We carry out work with reasonable care and skill. We are not liable for pre-existing faults, for the consequences of a repair you decline, or for loss that was not reasonably foreseeable. Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability where the law does not permit it, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.
